The illustrated book DENKSTAHL. DIGIT-AL shows 141 pictures – collected works from AL’s digital art series.

AL has been artistically active for over 25 years. The dark side of society shaped his life early on. AL knows how to link the language of the street and the motifs of street art with the possibilities of digital imaging processes; he takes up the themes of street art and depicts them in bright colors on his digital canvas.

The artist plays masterfully with contrasts, for example when he brings together hard military symbols with delicate symbols such as flowers, hearts, butterflies. He wants to look at the opposing worlds such as war and peace or poverty and wealth at the same time and bring them to mind. It is precisely the two sides, the opposites, the apparent paradoxes that make life so intense and unfathomable. To open oneself to the whole range, to unite the opposites – therein lies the true art and the task.
